Fasset would like to alert ICB stakeholders to a number of deadlines, which are looming.
Submission of public comments on the Seta Landscape discussion document
The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande released the proposal for the new National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS) and Sector Education and Training (SETA) landscape within the context of an integrated and differentiated post school education and training system on 10 November 2015. The Minister has extended the deadline for the submission of public comments to the 29th February 2016. However, in order to prepare its submission, Fasset needs to receive feedback from its stakeholders by the 5th February 2016.
Fasset would like to encourage ICB stakeholders to participate in this process. If your organisation would like a dedicated session on the contents of the document, please contact Fasset CEO, Cheryl James at firstname.lastname@example.org
The submission of an Annual Training Report (ATR) 2014/15 combined with the Skills Development Plan 2016/2017 allows employers to claim 20% of their Skills Development Levy (SDL) paid to Fasset. This grant may be claimed for any training planned and undertaken in the firm, irrespective of the nature of the training. Training conducted/planned for any population group is acceptable for the grant.
Fasset offered three Discretionary Grants during the 2015/2016 financial year: the Pivotal Grant (PG), the Learnership Cash Entry and Exit Grant (LCG), and the National Student Financial Aid (NSFAS) Loan Repayment Grant (NLRG).
Applications for Fasset’s Discretionary grants close on Monday 15th February 2016. Applications for Discretionary Grants via hand or courier must reach Fasset by close of business (16h00), on Monday, 15 February 2016. Only electronic submissions will be accepted until midnight on Monday, 15 February 2016. No extensions will be granted.
The PIVOTAL (Professional, Vocational, Technical and Academic Learning) Grant enables employers to claim back a percentage of their Skills Development Levy if they undertook education or training interventions in certain strategic priority areas during the period 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2015. This period is applicable to the 2015/2016 financial year.
Employers can apply for the PIVOTAL Grant for Black African learners, who have registered on or completed learnerships. They can also apply for this grant if they offered academic and professional study bursaries to specific employed and unemployed Black African learners, who have successfully completed a course of study at recognised institutions or professional bodies.
Learnership Cash Grant
The Learnership Cash Grant (LCG) is available to levy-paying and non-levy paying employers with a staff complement of less than 150 employees, who provide learners with an opportunity to commence and/or complete a learnership in their workplace. The grant is available for Black African learners and learners with disabilities commencing, or completing a Fasset learnership during the period 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2015. This period is applicable to the 2015/2016 financial year. A schedule of tariffs for commencement and completion is available on the Fasset website: www.fasset.org.za
National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) Loan Repayment Grant
The NSFAS Loan Repayment Grant (NLRG) is available to learners at levy-paying and non-levy paying employers, who require assistance in the repayment of their loan. The grant is available for Black African learners and learners with disabilities commencing, or completing a learnership during the period 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2015. This period is applicable to the 2015/2016 financial year. The repayments are made directly to NSFAS and are based on a tariff linked to the period of study.
