Fasset News October 2015


There are numerous events in the October month worth recognising and the main emphasis is on breast cancer awareness. At Fasset, we have joined the national movement to drive the awareness of this debilitating disease by supporting the fighters, admiring the survivors, honouring the taken and by wearing our pink ribbons. We encourage both men and women to get examined regularly; the best protection is early detection.

We would also like to commemorate transport month and observe a moment of silence to the three people who have sadly lost their lives due to the collapse of the supporting structure for the pedestrian bridge over the M1 highway in Johannesburg.

On a high note, at the height of the excitement around the Rugby World Cup, we also have a national event of a similar scale coming up the Grade 12 final exams. This is the culmination of many years of blood, sweat and tears and we would like to wish all Grade 12s and their families and schools all the luck and perseverance over this period.


Incentives update

To ensure that firms enjoy the benefits of being a member of the Seta, Fasset will be running the Incentives update sessions from the 04th to 06th of November 2015. This event will be taking place in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, and will feature a demonstration of the new online submission of the PIVOTAL Grant, which closes on the 15th February 2016. Training Provider Certifications

Providers wanting certificates before the end of the calendar year are requested to send all their data through to Certification.Requests@fasset.org.za before 30 October 2015. All correct data received will be processed and certificates will be ready for collection by 15 December 2015. Any certification requests received after 30 October 2015 will be processed in 2016.
Fasset's Strategy for 2016/2017

The Fasset Board met in July 2015 to decide on the SETA strategy and implementation plans for 2016/2017. The strategy was approved by the Board and was also shared with all stakeholders at the Fasset AGM in September 2015. Stakeholder Satisfaction Survey 2015

Inter-SETA Transfers

Fasset has an obligation to ensure that companies that are transferring into Fasset actually belong in the sector. Of late, Fasset has received many Inter-SETA Transfer (IST) applications for organisations that do not belong in the Fasset sector. Many of these organisations want to take advantage of the benefits that Fasset provides to its members. In the interests of being accountable to our stakeholders and being accountable for public funds, Fasset does scrutinise the IST applications and has turned down those that do not fit squarely into the Fasset sector.

Fasset is recruiting 25 Brand Ambassadors from Universities and TVET Colleges for 2016-2017

Fasset is looking for well-connected, friendly, confident and self-motivated students to become Brand Ambassadors on and off campus. The prospective Brand Ambassador needs to be studying towards a Finance and Accounting-related qualification in order to qualify for this role. Each Brand Ambassador will be fully trained up on Fasset's many learner interventions and development programmes, and will be expected to share this information with other students on and off campus. In return, each Brand Ambassador will receive incentives throughout the programme.

TVET Colleges, Universities of Technology and Universities are invited to participate in this recruitment drive and assist us to identify the most vibrant people to partner with us in this successful intervention. For more information, please e-mail to Zandile.Skosana@fasset.org.za
