January 2013

Welcome back from your festive season break. We trust that you are well rested and wish you the very best for the New Year. It's going to be another exciting, yet busy year in the Fasset sector. That all important deadline of 15 February 2013 is just around the corner for stakeholders who wish to apply for the various Fasset discretionary grants on offer. Please note that the recently released grant regulations stipulate that the majority of Seta and employer spend must be on NQF registered qualifications, learnerships and internships. Be sure to follow the link below for more information on the grant regulations.

This will be my last issue as e-facts editor. It has been a great opportunity and privilege for me to serve our stakeholders through this newsletter. After four years at Fasset and roughly forty monthly editions of e-facts, I would like to thank you for your ongoing commitment to skills development and "making the future count".

And with that, I bring to you the first issue of e-facts for 2013, jam-packed with information and details of the upcoming deadlines, events and much more!

Kindest Regards
Marelda

Funding Regulations and Grant Changes
The funding regulations to the Skills Development Act, 1998 (Act No. 97 of 1998) were promulgated on 3 December 2012. The Fasset Board met to discuss issues relating to the regulations and determine the impact on the current Seta strategy for 2013/2014. A very important change for employers to note is the reduction in the Mandatory Grant disbursement amount from 50% to 20% of the Skills Development Levy (SDL). From 2014 the grant will be due on 30 April. Click here to download the memorandum outlining all these changes.
