I love Easter. It's a time for eating all the chocolate you can find with complete impunity! For me it's also a time of renewal and awakening. In that spirit, we are finalising year-end targets, while at the same time, gearing up for the start of the new Fasset financial year in April. Fasset's resolve in the new financial year is to ensure we achieve maximum impact in all of our interventions, as well as to continue working on building a lasting legacy of learning and development.

To ensure that your skills development needs are catered for, please remember that the deadline for the Mandatory Grant submission is 30 April 2016. Just one month to go!

Keep reading to take note of other important events, applications and deadlines. Best wishes to you over this season. If you will be travelling, please be safe on the roads.

Have a delicious Easter!

Fasset Incentives Update, Diarise these Dates

The Seta landscape is changing. Responding to this change, Fasset is more focused on delivery. For the final two years remaining of the Seta landscape, Fasset will focus on placement and academic support. As a result of this concise focus, some of Fasset's benefits have changed. The changes are effective for the 2016/2017 financial year.

To learn more about updates and Fasset's incentives; you are invited to attend the scheduled workshops. Venue details will follow with the invitation:

         •     Wednesday, 13 April 2016 in Johannesburg;
         •     Thursday, 14 April 2016 in Durban; and
         •     Friday, 15 April 2016 in Cape Town.

These workshops aim to empower Skills Development Facilitators (SDFs) with information on the benefits of being a member of the Seta, and provide information on Fasset's strategy. Please register your attendance online on receipt of the invitation.

Lifelong Learning Events

Lifelong Learning (LL) remains a flagship offering. LL enables Fasset stakeholders to keep their professional skills current. For the upcoming financial year, the LL offering has been reduced. Going forward, the Seta will host three events annually: the Budget and Tax Update, Compliance with Changes in Legislation and a soft skills topic, which is to be decided. Final topics to be posted on the Fasset website: www.fasset.org.za
4
Career Guidance

Fasset will continue to raise career awareness and position the Fasset sector as the sector of career choice for learners at school-level. We recognise that career planning is not only the learner's responsibility; role players such as parents, teachers and employers in the sector should also be involved in this process.

The Seta plans to establish a career portal, which learners, teachers and parents will be able to access. Fasset's intention is to serve as a starting point for all career-related information and act as a gateway to career-related information. The portal will provide information about the various careers and career paths within the finance and accounting services sector. We invite you to collaborate with us in this process.

To find out how you can get involved in the Career Awareness programme, send an email to zandile.skosana@fasset.org.za. Please join us in empowering the country's youth.
