Fasset invites registered members to join us in a one-day workshop on Building and Maintaining a Team. You will learn about teams, team dynamics and how to motivate and lead a team. The workshop will also cover team recognition, team membership behaviours of individuals in a team, dealing with toxic teams and individuals, as well as creating passion in teams.
Course Outline
This workshop is intended as an intermediate event for managers who wish to gain insight into the micro-management of their teams. Human resources and training professionals will also find this workshop informative in understanding management and leadership better.
Participants will be provided with information on a broad range of issues and will cover the following topics and new developments:
- Different types of teams and their purposes
- Team dynamics and stages of team development
- Ideas on how to motivate a team
- Team leadership and team membership roles and behaviours
- Creating a climate for collaboration and dealing with toxic environments
- Dealing with difficult people and the dynamics of change in teams

Training Provider: Andre O'Callaghan
Andre has more than 21 years experience as a senior HR professional in a variety of industries. His roles in corporate environments include that of HR Director, HR Executive, Manager: Strategy and Remuneration, Training Manager and Head: Training and Personnel Services. Currently he is an independent consultant, and clients include: Financial Portfolio Managers (FPM), AngloGold Ashanti, Debswana Diamond Company, Anglo American (Corporate), Barclay’s Africa, LG Electronics SA and Nedcor.
His consulting includes working in Mauritius, Kenya, Ghana, Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. Andre has facilitated various Fasset workshops in the past: Organisational Values, Emotional Intelligence, Latest Trends in Recruitment and Selection, Talent Management and Performance Management. Andre completed an Honours Degree in Counseling Psychology and an Honours Degree in Education. He is also a qualified and registered Psychometrist.
Please Note
- It is the role of the Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) to distribute this invitation to relevant individuals in the organisation who may benefit from this training.
- Confirmation of registration together with an agenda and a map will be provided per fax or e-mail. If, by chance, you do not receive confirmation, please contact the Call Centre on 086 101 0001 to confirm that you are registered. If you register and are unable to attend, or wish to be replaced by a colleague, please notify the Call Centre at least seven days before the event to enable Fasset to manage numbers and prevent wastage.
- Any venue with less than 14 registrations will be cancelled and delegates notified in writing.
- While every effort is made to pre-plan training events, delegates are accommodated on a first-come-first-served basis when registering. Where we are unable to accommodate you at your venue of choice, you will be contacted to confirm another acceptable venue.
- Fasset reserves the right to refuse late-comers or delegates who book after the deadline.
- Fasset members who pay the Skills Development Levy and who travel over 300kms (roundtrip) to attend a training session will be reimbursed at a rate of R3-28 per kilometre. The travel claim procedure and the requirements for this travel claim are available on our website (Events section).
- Should a delegate choose to attend a training session at a venue not in close proximity to their home, and other adequately located venues have been provided by Fasset, Fasset will not reimburse a travel claim. Claims will only be paid where the closest venues are fully booked and delegates are requested by the Fasset Call Centre to move to another venue. This request will be kept on file by Fasset as proof and all claims will be verified against this.

Registration for the first event closes on 23 July 2010, thereafter, 10 working days before the commencement of each workshop.
